Torture continues in Kashmir in the name of suppressing insurgency : a poisonous life of prisonersBy changing the constitution, the special status of Indian-controlled Kashmir has been abolished and the Muslim population is being tortured there. That's what many international human rights organizations have recently claimed. According to the agencies, the ruling Modi government is using torture as the only weapon to suppress the ongoing insurgency in the Indian-ruled region.
According to reports of agencies operating in various districts of the region, including Srinagar, the state's summer capital, the administration tortured Kashmiris in the name of suppressing the Kashmiris and tortured them, including water-boarding, sleep deprivation and sexual harassment.
Last Monday (August 12th), the state's non-governmental organization (APDP) and the Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) in Jammu and Kashmir released a report. Where prisoners are said to be suffering lonely lives, sleep deprivation and rape. Which has long been used as a torture tactic against Kashmiris.
The 7-page report also mentions other methods of torture by prisoners. These include electric shorts, hanging from the ceiling, submerged captive heads repeatedly in water (which is sometimes mixed with chili powder).
The detainees, who were released from detention centers, claimed that they were naked before they were tortured. At that time, the detainee's staff beat them with a stick and ignited a body heater or cigarette.
"I and my friend Mozaffar Ahmed Mirza have been subjected to a lot of torture while imprisoned," the newly released Manzoor Naiku told Qatar-based al-Jazeera. A rod was inserted through our anus. As a result, many parts of our internal organs burst. '
He said Mirza died of lung cancer while undergoing treatment at the hospital. But with five surgeries, I was saved. '
"In addition to these, I was put on a cloth around my penis and set on fire," Naiku said.
According to analysts, the government has so far deployed more than five million security personnel in Muslim-dominated areas in the Indian-controlled territory to suppress the local armed uprising. Last year, the organization's human rights body called for an international inquiry into violations of local rights.
As part of this, the head of human rights for the United Nations has also urged the Commission of Inquiry (COI) to conduct an independent inquiry into human rights abuses in the state.
Earlier, the ruling Modi government had abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by repeating Article 5 of the Indian Constitution (Monday). The latter also supported the creation of the disputed Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory.
Meanwhile, the ongoing Kashmir issue has sparked renewed tension between Pakistan and India. In the meantime, neighboring Pakistan has announced the termination of all sorts of trade, communication and relations with the Indian government. Although in such a crisis, Asia's powerful China has come to the side of the Pak government; And India got Russia on the other side.
In this regard, the issue of India-controlled Jammu and Kashmir is very sensitive to this; The Indian Supreme Court remarked that the government should take more time in this regard. That's what the court said on Tuesday (August 8th) in response to a petition filed by a regional party in the state, media reported.
On the other hand, in a petition filed by the National Conference on August 5, the Supreme Court stated, "Article 5 (1) (d) of the Constitution gave no power to wholesalely restate the Jammu and Kashmir Constitution." That is why the Supreme Court is urged to take immediate action in this regard.
According to the petition filed by the Kashmiri Party in the court, the long-standing special status of the region has been unilaterally canceled without consultation with the people of the state and their elected representatives (the Legislative Assembly of Kashmir). The means by which the democratic rights and freedoms of the people have not been evaluated in the least; Which is never
